A steel coil is a finished steel product just like a sheet or strip that has been wound or coiled after rolling. A steel coil is a popular material used in industries as it’s quality has improved over time. The following data will provide more information about Stainless Steel 347H Coils, which is considered slightly tougher than Stainless Steel grade 304.
Steel coils are classified into two types based on how they are manufactured:
Hot-rolled – Steel that is roll-pressed at extremely high temperatures over 1700°F (926.667°C), which is higher than the recrystallization temperature which is typically between 400 and 700 °C for most steels.
Cold-rolled – It is basically hot-rolled steel that’s been processed further. After cooling, hot rolled steel is re-rolled at room temperature to obtain more precise dimensions and better surface qualities.
SS 347H coil is the higher carbon version of 347. The high carbon element in it is 0.04% to 0.10% which is denoted by the letter ‘’H’’ which is used after the grade. It was developed for enhanced creep resistance and for higher strength at temperatures above 1000°F (537°C). SS 347H Coil in available in different forms, shapes, dimensions, types, thickness, and other specifications. Stainless Steel 347H coil is a metal that belongs to the precipitation-hardened steels family. Because of it’s higher carbon content, the alloy is stabilized with the addition of niobium or tantalum. Both of these properties allow 347H coils to be exposed to higher temperatures. Because of its high corrosion resistance, 347H coils are frequently used in high stress, high corrosion environments with severe exposure.
APPLICATIONS OF SS 347H COIL
Mentioned below are few applications of Stainless Steel 304H coils.
- Agriculture – Hot rolled coils are used for strength and formidability in tractors and other farm machinery. Cold steel coil on the other hand, is useful in more specialized industries that require high precision parts.
- Automobiles – Car manufacturers like to use this material for the interior and exterior of their vehicles because it’s smooth surface finish make the products look appealing to potential buyers.
- Household appliances – Companies that sell appliances such as refrigerators require metal pieces that are not only shiny but also strong and resistant to dents.
- Furniture – Cold steel coils impart structural strength to the metal parts of upholstered furniture.
